G for Gelato Sweet Summer Splash

GforG1

There’s nothing like ice cold gelato to help you cool off on a hot summer’s day! I’m so happy to be celebrating the launch of summer in the 6ix at G for Gelato’s Sweet Summer Splash party. Join me on Sunday June 19 (noon to 5 p.m.) at 75 Jarvis St. because if you haven’t tried their gelato, pizza and desserts… you’re in for a treat!

Lamesa Filipino Kitchen

lamesato

Lamesa Filipino Kitchen is a must-try if you’re in the Queen and Bathurst area. I’ve never had Filipino food before, but I will definitely have it again. This cute little spot has a cozy and intimate ambiance. I’d come back here for date night, with a close group of friends or for a casual business meeting. My favourite thing about this place is the staff. I love when people are passionate about what they do. It’s infectious. Our server explained the menu in detail, gave us his recommendations and then explained each dish thoroughly as it came out. What a treat!

How to: Homemade sushi

pinme

A friend of mine taught me how to make homemade sushi this weekend and it was so good that I had to share it with you. It’s also super easy to make! First we stopped by our local Korean/Japanese grocery store to pick up all the ingredients. We tried three different rolls: California, Philadelphia and our own tropical maki creation. You can get really creative and have fun without following a recipe. Check these instructions to learn how to roll.

California rolls: Crab, cucumber, avocado and tobiko (flying fish roe)

Philadelphia rolls: Cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber

Tropical maki: Pineapple, shrimp, cucumber + coconut shavings, sesame seeds & mint leaf garnish
